In 2002, the crew of Expedition 5 tested 16 international toys and sports activities while on board the space station. Their experiments followed toy experiments by crews of shuttle missions STS-51D, STS-54, and STS-77. This video is hosted by astronaut Leland Melvin and shows crew members (with the help of students back on Earth) investigating the behavior of the toys in space. The program compares the behavior of the toys in Earth’s gravity and then their behavior in the microgravity environment of space. This video is intended for grades 5-12.
